Frame No. 2516 dates is said to date from 1937
though by the frame number, it is likely it was built in 1936. Part
of the collection at the Museum
of Transport in Glasgow,
it retains much of it's original equipment and patina. Whilst on
one hand this is fortunate, on the other hand it
is in very poor condition and has gained many additional marks from
poor handling over the years. At some point, the original brake blocks
have been substituted for a modern pattern which look somewhat out
of place on such an old machine. As the Museum holds perhaps one
of the earliest Scot's in existence this is a prime candidate for
a professional restoration and replacement of the correct components. |
