274B - 1952
Photographs courtesy of Laurence Dunphy

This Scot was purchased in 1954 and was ordered to the original owner specifications through Johnny Rankin's cycle shop in Newcastle upon Tyne. The frame was repainted a few years ago in the original flamboyant red by M.Steel Cycles. The 'Flying Scot' headset fittings and the 'Gnutti' hub plating has deteriorated slightly but the alloy Fiamme sprint rims with db spokes are in good condition. The original close ratio chain set is not fitted at present and needs replating. The long extension and 'South of France' handlebars were a fifties fashion and are original.  Simplex gears and double changer are fitted. The brakes are  side-pull alloy, Wienmann type 730.

Thanks to Laurence Dunphy for this information.
