455K - 1961 / 62
Photographs courtesy of Alex Taylor & Bob Freeman

455K was restored for Alex Taylor by Bob Freeman at Elliiot Bay Cycles in Seattle. Alex bought this Scot whilst visiting his Native Scotland in 2002 hoping to use it as it was. In 2004 Prior to it's restoration, Alex wrote ;

When I first saw the pictures that I had asked the previous owner to take and to send me when I was negotiating the deal, I thought that I would be able to use it as is. But when I got it home and saw it in the flesh in the cold light of day, I decided that the frame needed to be restored and repainted. So, I am having one of the bicycle frame makers in Seattle restore the frame and repaint it. I managed to get a set of Flying Scot Decals and was fortunate enough to be the high bidder for an unused Flying Scot head-badge. So, by the end of this week the frame will be completed. My main purpose for buying the bicycle is to ride it. So, I had them braise on the fitting to hold a pump and to braze on a derellieur attachment point. I am having the frame painted a bright royal blue, (called Bonnie Blue!) with the head tube white and a white panel on the seat tube. Dales also sent me the world champion tapes to separate the blue frame and the white panel. Because I am going to ride it a lot, and because it is hilly in the Seattle area, and because I am not as young as I used to be, I am going to install a TA triple chain ring and cranks. I am still deciding whether or not to use a Brook B17 Pro Saddle on it. My head says "Go for it, but my behind says "No way". My current plan is to have it ready to ride for the Audax club that I belong to 100K, 3.5Kft altitude gain Randonee Populaire on March 6th, which is also my 75th birthday

And what a job they made of it. For more photographs of this restored scot, see Bob's web pages by clicking here
