Unidentified 1963 Frame

Charlie
This machine was one of three, custom built for it's owner Charlie McTaggart shortly before he left for the U.S. in July 1963. Now living in Southern California, Charlie describes the frame as "having a 72 degree head and a 73 degree seat angle 21.5" top tube, 21.5" seat tube 2" fork rake. The real special thing was the bracket height, it was 11 inches, the chainstays were almost parallel with the ground,it made a very good combination,it was fast and responsive, yet stable". As a tribute to Fausto Coppi, he certainly couldn't have picked a more complimentary colour than "Celeste"

Charlie began racing at the age of 15 as a member of the St. Christopher Wheelers and Road Club and went on to win amongst other Scottish club events - the Crow Road Race in the Campsie Hills, the Armadale, the Dunfermline, and the Glen Taggart Road Races. Although sadly all his Flying Scot's have since been sold, Charlie is still an active cyclist and takes part in century rides no less !
