Frames built
during this period must rank amongst the best made. Nowadays and
with the benefit of hindsight, these were to be the last years
of the company, production of lightweight frames had all but stopped.
Rattrays never managed to see the opportunities
of BMX and mountain bikes which were in there infancy. Though Evan
Ritchie had great plans to expand the use of the "Flying Scot" name,
Internal problems saw him leave the company, and its financial
health suffer permanent damage.
In 1983 they closed the doors at Alexandra Parade for good.
