"The Glasgow Cycle Co." traded
from 1906 to 1970. Most of their work seems to have been for export
to the colonies specifically India, but also to Brazil, East Africa
and the USA mainly for the heavier
"trade" end of the bicycle market.
Having not seen many, I guess they jumped
on the proverbial post-war "club" sales bandwagon judging
by the "Argyle" range offered in the newspaper adverts shown
below (dated Feb / Mar 1951).
Later in the same year
they also mention another model specifically for the Festival
of Britain. It was called the "Campbell
of Argyle"
! - judging by the scotsman on the headbadge, cyclings equivalent
of Edinburgh rock and Tartan shortbread...
